How I Solved My Last Minute Gift Dilemma in Less Than an Hour
Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed, because I have so much to do and not enough time in the day to do it. I could blame it on the kids but I absolutely love being a stay-at-home mom. I guess I can blame it on the fact that so many great moms in my Mom’s Group made it look easy to me. Anyhow, I find it much harder to get things accomplished now than I did before the kids were born. At 9 months, 24 months, and almost 4 they are a handful. I used to pride myself in finding a balance between kids and my other responsibilities, but boy is it getting hard! I thought it would get easier as they got older but they actually take more time now than they did.
“Before kids” as I now refer to my previous life, my house was always spotless even though I often worked more than 40 hours a week. I even found time for entertaining and hosting nice dinner parties. Now sometimes I find it difficult to take a shower. Since I am so busy I often make things worse by letting them get to the crisis point. Everything seems last minute in my life today.
For example, I have these last minute gifts I have to pick up. Sure, you are probably wondering why I didn’t get my shopping done earlier but it is just that so much other stuff such as sick children has come up that that it has prevented me from doing it the way I want to. Sometimes I try too hard to do things in a big way when I should just take the path of least resistance to get something done. In this case I wanted to make sure I selected just the “right” gifts. So here I am wondering how I am going to get a sitter on such short notice for three young kids. With three children baby sitters today charge more than they did when I used to baby sit so that will really put a dent in my budget but taking them with me is just not an option if I want to get anything accomplished.
I am thinking that I may have another option, though and that is to buy these last minute gifts on online. I normally only use the Internet to research my purchases before I go to buy something. I am not really much for buying things online but I found a website, Arttowngifts.com that looks great and they can get last minute gifts delivered fast. It is secure, and that is usually what I am worried about—entering my information on the computer for Goodness-Knows-Who to pick it up and use it. And they will let me use my billing address and still deliver the gifts to a different address… the place I need to ship the gift anyway. Boy that will certainly save some time and hassle. So many sites refuse to do that. Are they really missing the point of Internet Shopping or what?
I love shopping but with three young kids it is just so hard. I normally get so excited when I have shopping to do. But when I take the children I find myself either worrying that they will break something or that I will lose them if I look away for just a second. So here is the line up of gifts I need to buy today.
My sister just had her first baby a baby boy. I really want to send her new baby balloons and a teddy so they will be there for her when she gets home from the hospital. With Arttowngifts.com’s last minute gifts and same day delivery service I can order the balloons this morning and have the balloons waiting on her door this afternoon when she gets out of the car. I actually made the trip to visit her for her baby shower so I gave her a really nice new baby shower gift so this is just a little something to let her know how excited we are for her. She waited until late in life to start a family and is really thrilled to be having a baby.
My husband’s older sister is in returning from the hospital after minor surgery so I need to make sure to let her know that we are thinking about her. She is really shy and has very few friends since she just recently moved to the area. I know how lonely it can be when you are homebound after a surgery so I need a last minute gift for her. Since she really likes to read so I am going to send her a book lover’s gift basket.
My brother and his wife just moved into their first house today. Some of their friends are throwing a house warming party for them this weekend. Since they live to far for us to visit I want to send them a house warming gift. Since it is the last minute I thought I would send them a last minute wine gift basket.
So can you see what I mean about having so many last minute gifts to pick up? Fortunately with internet shopping I can get it done without the added cost of a baby sitter and now high price of gas. If I hurry I can finish my shopping during nap time and have the afternoon free to spend with the kids! Hey moms, please let me know how you manage your last minute gift shopping.
